In 1641, the abbey of Bassac has not yet recovered from the destructions of the wars of religion that have ransacked the country.
Don’t forget that the famous battle of Jarnac (13 march 1569) has taken place near the abbey.
This map of 1641 (large size) is an inventory of the damages.
